Employee union demanding the 8th pay commission to be constituted soon. According to government sources, the government has not yet considered the next pay commission, while the employee unions are demanding the 8th pay commission. 

According to the 7th pay commission, the basic salary of a Govt employee is 18,000 rupees. The fitment factor plays a big role in deciding this salary. Based on the fitment factor, the old basic pay is taken and the revised basic pay is calculated. In the recommendation of the 7th pay commission, the fitment factor was kept at 2.57 times and on this basis, the salary of central employees was revised. 

Now According to the source, during the 8th pay commission, the fitment factor can be increased to 3.68 times in the 8th pay commission and if this happens, the basic pay of a government employee can increase from 18,000 to 26,000 rupees. Below we have given information about the salary hike of government employees according to the fitment factor. 

  • 6th pay commission fitment factor – 1.86% salary hike – 54%, basic pay – 7,000 rupees 
  • 7th Pay commission fitment factor – 2.57%, salary hike – 14.29%, basic pay – 18,000 rupees 
  • 8th pay commission fitment factor – 3.68% ( expected) 

Employee Salary according to 8th Pay commission 

The salary of central government employees from Pay Matrix Level 1 can be increased from 18,000 to 26,000. in this sequence the salary will increase up to Pay Matrix Level 18, central government employees will have to wait for one and a half years more because, after one and a half years, the 8th Pay Commission is expected to be implemented on January 1, 2026.

The general budget for the financial year 2024 and 25 has been presented by the Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently but in this budget session no announcement has been made regarding the demands of the central government employees and there has been no discussion about the 8th Pay Commission in this budget. If sources are to be believed, the government will soon consider the 8th Pay Commission as it still has one and a half years for it.
